It's how I spent my evening, so why not write about it? :-)
Loved it. My friend and I agreed: it's intense, and doesn't really let up. (We both were a bit dazed for a few minutes after the film ended.) I understand now why people say that the role of Joker may not be able to be brought back. Heath Ledger was...somethin' else, man. That said - I saw some comments on message boards arguing that Aaron Eckhart did as good or better an acting job than Heath Ledger, and I can't disagree with that. I liked Christian Bale better as Batman than as Bruce Wayne in this film...not sure why. The three men together? Really f'n fantastic. :-)
All in all, I'd say that most of the cast delivered. Actually, almost everyone delivered - crew/other movie folks as well. The effects were sweeeeet, the stunts were super fun. The sound was a bit loud, but I think that it actually contributed to the ambience of the film. (It seemed to me like I was supposed to feel a bit overwhelmed at times. Maybe it was just me?) The attention to detail in set dressing and scripting made for some very cool moments.
I may have to see it again, sooner rather than later. I'll try to wait until it comes to the cheap theater here. :-)
