At the time, the surgeon removed the piece of offending colon and that was ( Read more... )

This sounds familiar, Aquila (mom who refuses living in a care facility, even assisted living, doesn't want anyone coming in, doesn't want to leave her house, etc.). My sympathy, for both of you ( ... )

There is no possibility of the caregiver being me because I live 2 hrs away from her (we have no other family, I might add). I didn't mean that you should be the home care provider, but that she will want it. We have given my mother a lot of 24/7 care, my sister and I, although we both live thousands of miles away from her (my mother lives in the D.C. suburbs; I live in northern MN, my sister in northern CA). We each go for a week and a half three times a year, take care of her, clean her house, make all the food, etc. My brother lives in the area and visits once a week, makes her a meal or brings it in, cleans, brings her groceries; sees to her financial stuff, makes sure her house is maintained, the yard seen to, the car checked (she hasn't been able to drive for over a year now, but we use the car to do her errands and take her to appointments when we're there). The angelic nextdoor neighbor brings in her paper and mail and comes over every afternoon for a cocktail and to listen to her. He and his wife have been super in emergencies, too ( ... )
