It's a Frakcancer party!!!!

For our 100th challenge week, I decided that we should celebrate by honouring the writers who have posted at least 100 drabbles to the comm.

And I can’t think of a better way to start but with the person who wrote the very first drabble for the comm, our Speedy Queen of Darkness, frakcancer.

Frak has semi-retired from writing a/r drabbles, but I still live in hope that we can one day lure her away from her busy real life and Phyllis Logan for the occasional appearance.

There was nothing nicer than waiting for a Frakcancer fic to be posted in world-breaking time straight after I posted the challenge every Friday afternoon. Some people may have assumed that Frak, being a co-mod, had prior knowledge of the challenge, but I can assure you that this wasn’t the case.

Frak’s drabbles were always brilliant, and always had her trademark touch of darkness. Just when you were least expecting it -- when you were laughing at her humour, or thinking about a cold shower because of her smut -- she’d take out her knife and stab you straight through the heart. The other magical thing about Frak’s drabbles were that they were always Bill and Laura. It didn’t really matter what situation or setting she dropped them into, they remained those same perfectly imperfect characters I saw on the small screen. (And I must mention as well, how capable Frak is when one realises that doesn't use English anymore in her everyday life.)

Frak’s most well-known drabbles would be the Caprican Times series. I’m proud that she took an inkling of an idea of that newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief Bill Adama and its publisher, Laura Roslin, added ‘Adar’ to Laura’s surname and a waistcoat to Bill’s wardrobe, and owned it.

She also gained notoriety with Dystopia. That universe makes my heart bleed, but I still believe it, even though I don’t want to believe.

My other personal favourite is the Battlefield Cross series. Oddly, even though my heart’s being trampled on when I read those fics, they give me hope.

Feel free to give Frak some love on this entry and to rec any favourites of hers you may have. I really had trouble choosing anything else to rec for this post, because I love them all.

Frak linked back to her journal, so here is the link to her master ficlist where you’ll find all these goodies. Click here or, of course, click on her author tag.
