From a Forest of Bone and Blood | Extras and Author Notes

I know, this entry is extremely late to the party. Anyway, I thought I would share the pictures that helped to inspire me whilst writing my big bang. None of these pictures belong to me; they were found via Google Image Search and I should have written down where I found them so I could credit them but yeah, I forgot. Obviously credit goes to the original artists (and if one of these pictures belongs to you and you want me to take it down, please let me know!). Also, if you haven't read the story yet, please be aware that there will probably be spoilers ahead.

Onward!

The forest in the beginning of the story, although I pictured the trees looking more like birch trees.

The Oracle. Originally I'd cast Samantha Ferris in this role, but then I changed my mind and made it Adrianne. This pic didn't really fit the image in my head any more, so I decided to try my hand at making an inspirational manip.  I think it turned out really well.  When writing, the scene with the oracle was my first milestone. It helps me to divide my stories up into sections, even if I don't mark them as such, so when the four leave the oracle that was the end of one such division.

This is my manip of Oracle!Adrianne.

This picture is the reason there is even a sea-dragon in my story. I saw it and my brain went "oooooh!" and thus, dragon!Samantha was born. At this point I'd already cast Samantha as the Oracle, so this was almost Adrianne, because honestly, I find the idea of JDM / Adrianne incredibly hot! Does anyone else? But then I switched the roles because it just felt more right to me. Also, I don't imagine dragon!Samantha looking quite this freaky.

Inspiration for Misha's Workshop, although I imagine Misha's workshop to be a lot messier.  I wanted to work in a line or two that implied Misha may be the same Misha as in Drifting through Doorways, but I couldn't think of a way to do it that didn't seem overly contrived. Maybe in my next fic!

Wraithwood and the ghostly dryads. I love this picture and it perfectly suits the mood I was going for with that part of the story.

Inspiration for the town of Gatewood. I just liked the thought of a town that had been isolated from the rest of the world for centuries (without the residents going completely nutzoids, aka every Hollywood movie about isolation ever, pretty much).

Dragon guarding the Pool of Restoration. This dragon is very similar to how I picture dragon!Chris in the story. Also this is how I imagine the cliffs on the northern side of Mainsail, only with the forest of Wraithwood reaching all the way to the cliff's edge.

Well, that's pretty much it for my author's notes. Maybe I'll get better at doing these as I do more of them, but I doubt it. Anyway, these are the pics that I kept going back and looking at whilst brainstorming.  I just want to thank each of you again who have read and left me comments - y'all are the reason I do this, so thank you!!
