More on Courtney

I'm putting this here so I can remember what I want to tell her . . . the memory may have faded by the time she returns. I want her to know that in some ways, she has been the big sister I never had. In our UU Small Group Ministry, we discovered that our mothers were very similar(NPD). I remember after a brief sharing that revealed this, I ( Read more... )

That's an awesome synchronicity to discover!

I've done that with the gal who is designing that gorgeous knotwork, I do believe. I'm going over to their house on Tuesday night for dinner and I'm quite excited about that. It is literally the first time since I came back to KC that anyone has extended an invitation to me, other than in a group setting.

She posts comments that make me chortle. Granted she knows me from my having played QE but she's smart, goofy, non-traditional and also pagan. So I think this is going to be the start of a lovely friendship.

Here's to a new year filled with great new friendships!

I'm sensing you didn't read my earlier post about her. I learned yesterday she has Alzheimer's. The lunch I described took place many years ago.

i'm betting that that is the reason she chose to share her secret with you. she has a connection with you that goes beyond mere face to face. it is rare, and "fine" when it happens. i hope that the tie stays with her, even when the forgetting begins. it will sustain her.

i had an online friend like that--she referred to us as twins, separated at birth. we were years apart, but there were so many serendipitous things in our lives, that we clicked immediately. it was an easy thing to appreciate, and to share an intellectual/life connection, mattered. hers was a sudden goodbye--i would have liked more time. but we had what we had, and that made my life, in particular, so much richer. it certainly sounds as though you share the same thing with Courtney. blessings on both of you, in this. yes, you do a good thing.
