It is a lot. It's more than I ever would have expected. If someone had told me, "You're going to read Harry Potter, and your life is going to change," I would have rolled my eyes and thought they were being really dramatic. But that's exactly what happened.
I entered the fandom in 1999 before the GoF title was released. The fandom has changed a rediculous amount ever since. Bloomsbury shielded the title of GoF until it leaked out mere days before publication and the cover was kept hidden until the last microsecond. Nowadays, Jo is happy to place the title behind her wondrous door, Warner Bros. brings our lovely webmasters to the movie sets and we are allowed to write fanfiction without lawyers breathing fire down our necks.
Before OotP, only a little more than half of the story had been revealed, and the What-Ifs seemed to multiply every day. Before OotP, everything seemed new to me - every site, every person, every theory, every fic.

The series might end, but the friendships gained, I think, will be lasting and important for the rest of our lives. That's a lot. :)

I'm sorry, I totally read this as "half-eating it" and got confused and had to go back and reread. Now it makes more sense.
