So i have a theory on the Isobel/John/Katherine vis-a-vis.

Isobel gave up her child because she was scared kid herself. She grows up, becomes enamored of Vampire, et all Mythology, starts doing research. She becomes expert in her field and eventually desires the Vampire life, and thanks to John, finds Damon, who's willing to turn her--this is what we've been presented about Isobel.

But, what if she became a Vampire on purpose, to help protect her doppelganger daughter? She was helping Katherine get rid of the Tomb Vamps for two reasons: Katherine's reason--she didn't want anyone to know she was still alive and if the T.Vamps were dead, Klaus might believe she was also dead. Isobel's reason--as stated to John at the end of 1x21 was that she didn't want any of them (any vampires) anywhere near their daughter. (As long as you have a Salvatore on each arm, you're doomed, she drawled ( ... )

And, one more thing: If Jenna is fixing Damon up with people who are more age appropriate for him, he can't be kissing Elena on the front porch. That was probably her motivation. *g*

Ha, makes sense. Especially since she did see them arrive together at the Grill in this episode, all 'no personal space'.

I imagine it's the one thing Alaric's honest with Jenna about--yeah, so, um, Damon's kinda, sorta, in love with Elena.

Jenna: What woman can I throw under the bus to keep him away from Elena? *looks around* Andie Starr, Action News! w00t w00t!

Lalalalalalala, I don't hear you and your logic talking. Damon's charms have won her over, helped immeasurably by Alaric talking Damon up every chance he gets because he's his BFF! :D

Yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

(Although, hee to the "no personal space" cuz YEAH!

Oh, I do think that Damon has won her over a bit - just not enough that she wants him to try to hook up with Elena.

(but if it happens, she will probably be much less surprised than Bonnie or Caroline!)

Oh, yeah, but my delusion is that Elena had nothing to do with it. It's ALL ABOUT THE SEKRIT LUV THAT SHE (AND ALARIC) HAS (HAVE) FOR DAMON!!!

Uh huh!

I do think the whole idea that --

Isobel's intent has been to preserve and protect Elena, but her cover is being a Vampire?

is pretty awesomely fascinating, but I can't see that she would have orchestrated her parent's death, or that she'd be the key to getting Stefan and Damon anywhere Elena. If that's what she wanted, all she had to do was let Damon know about Elena when they met knowing about his Katherine obsession. Clearly, she wants Elena nowhere near the brothers.

If Jenna is fixing Damon up with people who are more age appropriate for him, he can't be kissing Elena on the front porch. That was probably her motivation. *g*

Fine, whatever, apply logic. I'll live in my happy delusion that Damon's charms have won her over, helped immeasurably by Alaric talking Damon up every chance he gets because he's his BFF! :D

My ideas were running away with me last night--so let me readjust the theory--what if Katherine purposely put Elena in Stefan's path? Isobel wouldn't necessarily know that, but Katherine would know what lengths the boys went to, to protect HER back in the day, so it's stands to reason she could trust they would protect Elena.

But if Isobel found Kat, Kat told her about the doppelganger sacrifice stuff, and Isobel decided the best to way to combat the situation was to also be a vampire (and you know, have sex with Damon, might as well have some fun too).

I'm sure Jenna is charmed by Damon (she finds him ridiculously hot, yanno), but she's also wary of him (you have never dated you, I have dated many yous), so she's actually finally being a good guardian for once. Coach Tanner would be so proud!

And of course Alaric's constant repertoire of well, he did kill me that one time, but he's an alright guy if you'd give him a chance has to help. :D

Sorry, I can't go with the Katherine idea either because it's been clear to me this season that it really bugs the hell out of her that both Stefan and Damon have so fallen for Elena (especially Stefan apparently), so I can't see her putting Elena in either of their paths. She'd probably figure that they'd be disgusted and turned off by how less than she is that Katherine is (in Katherine's eyes).

Keep brain-storming! Your ideas are interesting. :D
