8.14 - 'It's Been A Hell Of A Ride' (The Vampire Diaries)

This took a few days longer because (a) I was sooo sick last week (the flu *and* two ear infections-fear not, I am on the mend now, yay! antibiotics!) and (b) well, this is a loooong post (a wee bit over 9,000 words, the third longest TVD post so far!) so, yeah, it took a bit of time. “Damon Salvatore knows how to give great speech.” - Yes, that speech was really awesome, for many reasons, one of the most significant being that it showed so clearly how far Damon’s come as far as the idea of worthiness goes.

Yup, he finally gets how much he matters.

“So to not have that happen and illicit no true amazement and uncertainty didn't work for me.” - I actually didn’t notice this (I’ll pay attention when I watch it for the second time because *gasp* I didn’t yet), but maybe Damon is just not prone to overtly/visibly, ostentatiously emotional reactions when it comes to himself? When he was saying goodbye to Elena in 5x22, his despair was very quiet. Also upon his reunion with Stefan in S6 he was acting fairly collected. Happy but collected. So maybe that’s just the ( ... )
