And since we're at it... I just feel the need to throw it out there: was Stefan clairvoyant enough to know that Bonnie would figure this witch thing out so quickly? For all he knew, Damon could've been quite old by the time Elena woke up... Not that I'm complaining of course, since it did turn out to be the best decision Stefan's ever made, but still, there was a possibility of Damon spending his entire human life without Elena, which makes Stefan's grand declaration of wishing for Elena to have an opportunity to get to know Damon a little... overtly optimistic.
YEAH, STEFAN!! There definitely were a few... erm, issues in the finale. (Caroline Dries would never!)
Speaking of optimistic or rather convenient (and again, I'm not criticizing just observing ;), I thought it was slightly out-of-character for Katherine Pierce of all people not to zoom out of that cave the moment Stefan dropped the syringe and there were those 2 seconds (at least) when neither Damon nor Stefan was holding her in a grip. Not to mention that the grip itself

“He failed to actually save her. Heeheeheee! Chortle, chortle. Giggle, giggle.” - Ha, so true! Good point.
That really did tickle me pink.
“I was a tad confused by Stefan telling Damon that he could have forever with Elena because, well, he can't.” - Yes! I found it confusing too. Maybe he meant that in a, um, symbolic sense? In which case the wording “quite literally an eternity” is still strange, but oh well.
It was just... not good writing. (Caroline Dries would never!)
“I didn't like how Stefan still looked compelled in the beginning of his flashback. It was a cheap tactic that was used to fool viewers” - Probably so, of course, but I also think that he did it for Damon's sake. If he didn't make himself look compelled, Damon would've quickly guessed what was going on.
I mean on the street. He still looked compelled when he was on the street and just walking back the ambulance. Damon couldn't see him anymore. That was just for the viewers. Cheap tactic.

Well, as you know the DVD is out now and I'm quite disappointed with the deleted scenes and all. I really think the lack overall with this final release shows that the CW was just done with the show. Ah well. At least we did get this final season to wrap everything up.

“I still think the original plan was for Shane and Klaus to be working together but when The Originals came about that plan was dropped, thus the Shane/Klaus angle was scrapped as well.” - OH That makes me really sad to hear. Also, why didn't we see Shane in the finale??? I'm kidding lol I just really liked him as a character and I thought he had so much more potential than just to die off-screen in the same season when he was introduced.
I'll talk about that in my wrap-up posts, which I may write next weekend. Yeah, I think so. I loved Shane.
“It also gave Matt the chance to forgive Damon and put them on equal footing.” - Yes, I think you're so right in your analysis of this (well, of everything. Duh lol). And it worked out really well.
Yeah, there were definitely reasons why Tyler had to die; it did make sense.
“Finally, in the end, there stood the two of them, believing the very same thing about the other. Both pushing, both trying so hard to save the other, both believing that they could be saved and both believing that the

“Elena's relationship with John was completely different. She knew him her entire life, yes, as her uncle, but still, she knew him.” - AND didn't like him. It was only shortly before his death that they established *any* kind of relationship.
She didn't like him AFTER he came back and the whole vampire thing/he was her father stuff came up. Prior to that, she was fine with him. Growing up, he was her uncle and she was fine with him. And then before he died, she re-established that good relationship. He was also her father's brother. He was ALWAYS a part of her family.
“He was a part of her family, and he literally gave up his life for hers.” - He did, but let's not forget that Isobel also cared about Elena and wanted to protect her (by killing Damon and Stefan, but still ;)
Elena wouldn't see it that way, partially because she DID NOT KNOW THAT. Not really.
“Isobel was pretty much next to nothing to Elena in the limited time Elena knew her.” - But that's not how Elena would see it. Elena, with all her compassion and empathy,

"Growing up, he was her uncle and she was fine with him." - Yes, but didn't Jeremy made some comment that hinted at the fact that they didn't like him much? I'm pretty sure he did.
Sorta not liking an uncle (and based on how they reacted to him before all of the crap went down showed that they were OK with him) is different from the "relationship" and that's using that term very loosely, Elena had with Isobel.
"So, no, Isobel did NOT deserve to be on that porch with Elena. Certainly not with her REAL mother." - I'm not going to argue whether she was *deserving* or not, because that wasn't my point anyway. That scene was meant to be symbolic and as such, I just thought it would've been even more symbolic and moving with Isobel in it. Just my personal, subjective opinion. (That, and I really like Mia Kirshner so it would've been lovely to see her haha)Right, it was symbolic about Elena and her loved ones being together. This family being reunited in the peaceful afterlife. Isobel was not a part of their family. She screwed over John.
