Oh dear lord . . .

Thank god I finally have time to sit down and talk about this episode. Seeker did it again. It out-awesomed itself in ways I never even dreamed could happen outside of fanfic. What could so easily have been an exploitative stunt that played on stereotypes ended up being not only HOT but actually sweet, poignant, vital to the story, perfectly in character and fitting with what we know of Cara's past, and ultimately heartbreaking.

First of all, Cara is just so confident and effortlessly sexy, but also so clearly vulnerable. That scene with Dahlia in the woods? melted me. In just about every way possible. It was like Christmas morning if somehow magically you got everything on your list PLUS even some stuff you didn't even realize you wanted. (side note: holy crap Tab looks like an amazing kisser!!! even more amazing than I imagined!). The connection she has with Dahlia makes so much sense to me, and felt very real. They were somehow both circumspect yet very transparent about their emotions, and it works very well with how I picture mord'sith romantic relationships. (huh. I guess Cara really is an amalgam of all the mord'sith from the books except Denna, because all of a sudden we get the show version of Berdine and Raina. woohoo!)

ooh! ooh! ALSO! Did anyone else notice when Rahl called Dahlia and Cara's relationship a 'special friendship.' Yeah. I'm definitely taking that as confirmation that the Mord'sith meaning of "friendship" really does involve oodles and oodles of sex? And possibly ~feelings. Very repressed ~feelings. So Cara telling Kahlan she considered her a "friend"? heh. *waggles eyebrows suggestively* We were totally right about what that really meant. (wow. I'm a huge dork for reading this much into this. and for talking about it this much. oh well.)

As far as the end goes, I have mixed feelings. First, I was so fucking proud of Cara for withstanding the breaking and escaping with Zedd - I mean, how badass was that? - but at the same time, it really did feel too easy, and sort of seemed to cheapen the depth of the pain she had been put through (if that makes any sense whatsoever?). And I knew there was a scene of her kissing Dahlia in the temple that we hadn't seen yet, so it felt like the other shoe needed to drop. But STILL. I somehow did not see that coming! I'm so worried about my Cara. I mean, confident Mord'sith Cara is undeniably hot, but I like my woobie Cara even better. And while I'm enjoying Cara and Dahlia, I can't wait to see how Cara's next meeting with Kahlan plays out.

And I can't even talk about the previews for next week. Too. much. to. process. guh.

Finally, everyone (i.e. the two people who actually read this journal.) should rewatch Bradcpu's video of amazingness in light of the latest episode. It is somehow even more brilliant affecting than before, which I didn't think was possible:
