dreams

I think I need to illustrate this journal more. I am, after all, a visual person. LJ doesn't make this as easy as I'd like - perhaps it is time to move to a new blog altogether. The spring sun is causing my sap to warm and flow so who knows what's going to happen next.

we had year round blooms in our garden too, growing up. in the winter it was heather and holly. well, holly does not exactly bloom, but it has berries. and we had lots of flowers from early spring to later fall...

That's a fabulous picture! I don't mind seeing more of those in my flist.

Any changes to the house has to retain space suitable for massages. :-)

I really enjoy nice gardens, but I seem to be rather bad at them, and I have zero cycles for them right now. I hate having a postage stamp backyard that is still too much for me to take care of. Can't I just move every time the garden gets out of control?

I like your picture, so I'm glad you DID.*G* But yes, you're right, it's a pain. I have to park things on the .ftp page (or at EBSQ), then remember the code that ISN'T ftp, then type all that stuff in, then try to remember to hide behind a cut, unless I'm really not in the mood to do that.

Rather just browse, find picture, upload...let me know if you find THAT nirvana place.

Neat photo. We've been in our house for exactly a year and inherited a lovely cottage garden. Problem was I didn't know the difference between a weed and a plant! I think I have it covered now.

The title of those 2 books you mentioned sound good. Do you recommend them to a somewhat newbie gardener?

It's good to dream...because then you have the vision to make it happen.

Yes, I would recommend them. @0-Minute Gardener especially. It is a light and easy read, and so far quite informative. No pictures. :) I got it from an Amazon used book seller for under $5 including shipping. The second book - The Free Spirited Garden - is more inspirational, less hard facts. It might help to have some gardening experience with this one. But it does have lots of photos, a section that talks about which plants migrate which way (by seed, by runner shoots, etc.), and which plants do well or poorly in different kinds of soil and growing conditions. This one was on the remainders table, so you might try Hamilton Books online for a good price.
