Fanatical females like that claim to admire and love their celebrity crushes fervently and forever. So, can someone tell me why it's those same fangirls who disrespect, harass and lewdly proposition celebrities more than anyone else? I have news for them: love is not lust. Love involves respect. Admiration is not defined as the ogling of your beloved's body parts. From the films I have seen, Johnny Depp seems to be a fine and dedicated actor. To appreciate him simply for his anatomy, to reduce him to the sum of his face and figure, is demeaning and insulting.
It's a subject that I feel very strongly about. It's why I'm writing my PPC story, which should be up by tomorrow. I'm such a shy person; I couldn't imagine having all of that scrutiny on me, much less being stalked like that. It's the kind of thing that people tend to laugh off, too, because he's a guy.
Hee hee hee! Poor Johnny *giggle*! Harassed by those crazy fangirls again! I wish I were that popular *eyelash bat*!
Just for this, I'm friends-listing you (if you don't mind). Because you are SO. FREAKING. RIGHT. It'd be nice to tell the fangirls this one message: Celebrities are strangers.
So... Treat them like people you don't know. If you saw an inordinately cute stranger in line at the post office, you wouldn't yell, you wouldn't follow them around, you wouldn't steal their stuff, you wouldn't touch them. At least I hope you wouldn't. So why should you treat a stranger who happens to be famous any differently?
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but disrespectful fans do bug the crap out of me.
