I was in the basement office of the house that housed our IT department. We started losing our network commections to our offices in other towns, so we knew something was worng before we knew what it was. Somebody at another office had brought a tv in to work and we couldn't believe the news. By noon, all our network communications were cut off, either from overloaded routes, or because a good chunk of North America's data infrastructure passed through the area that was now in ruins. We were completely in the dark as to what was going on, except for reports from the guy with his portable black and white tv. It's a good lesson in how tightly our two countires were, and still are interlinked.
