Part of the work I was doing with my shrink in 2008/2009 was trying to reprogram my brain. Seriously. It turns out that a lot of my childhood stuff got recorded in an abnormal way in my brain, due to the circumstances, and so when certain things happen, they set off these automatic reactions due to the way my brain got wired as a kid.
