Mozzie

First impression: My first impression was probably that he was just relly weird LOL And that he was Neal's sidekick (in the sense that he'd be a secondary character). Also, because of the way he was introduced in the Pilot - in the dark, and saying he got in using his fist... My very early impression of Mozzie was that he was a little dangerous. Darker than what he actually was. And at first, I didn't give Mozzie much thoughts...

Impression now: ... But my love for Mozzie never ceased to grow season after season. Which is probably largely due to what Willie Garson brought to the role - and the writers letting him shine. For all his speeches on "this is not a life for us, there's no happy endings for guys like us", Mozzie is actually a big softy who craves for a family and human connections. Except because he had to survive in a hostile world, he convinced himself he didn't need anyone - and he actually learned to only rely on himself.

Favorite moment: I was going to say "every single time Mozzie is driving Peter nuts" but actually ( ... )

You make me love him even more :-)

I think he was supposed to be a darker character, and thank goodness it didn't stay like that. Though it does come out at times, like you say. He's more ruthless.

First impression: I think originally when I first started watching POI casually on TV, I saw John Reese as a big badass. You know, kicking asses, crashing cars... And, he is a big badass, but that's only part of the story. And that's not the one that made me fell in love with him. I don't particularly care for badass heroes. Even though I admit John is exquisitely handsome when he kicks asses.

Impression now: So, so much love. Now that I have a better picture of John, I understand him a lot better. And what strikes me in John is that he's so fundamentally a selfless hero. He'll *always* put someone's life before his own. That's just who he is. That's his strength and his weakness, he needs to save everyone, all the time. Also, despite everything that has happened to him, he still believes in the good in people. He's always ready to give you a second chance if you want one - but you better mean it, because he's also a good read of character, he'll know if you lie, and he doesn't take lies and betrayal very well ( ... )

I love John Reese I think the scene with the baby is one my favorite scenes it is first time we saw a softer side to him. It is a pity most of the characters had slightly tragic stories.

Aww yes, the episode with the baby is one of my favorite. Adorable and heartbreaking.

Let's have PETER BURKE :D

First impression: In the Pilot, Peter Burke first appears as your typical law enforcement guy. Bossy, righteous, Columbo coat, good at his job, but will need the genious of his consultant, like in so many other shows... That is, until he proves that you should *never* underestimate him. Peter Burke is a lot smarter and educated than he looks. Also, he had a very understanding wife... but at least he makes the effort to make up for the missed dinners.

Impression now: He's perfect. Or close enough. He's my ideal man. Caring, down-to-earth, simple. His heart is always in the right place, and he always tries to do the right thing. The right thing morally, and the right thing for the people he cares about. Two things that, when your friends are criminals, might get a little complicated.

Also, he's normal. He's not a broken hero (see John Reese right above lol), so that makes him... more accessible, easier to identify and connect with. I'm never going to be John Reese. But I can try to be Peter Burke, in a way.

Favorite moment: Well, I ( ... )

Aye I agree that Peter Burke is *the* perfect man - I love how steadfast and dependable he is too (characteristics which many fics like to emphasise, but I’ve come to realise that they simply build unrealistic expectations for real life :( Hahaha ( ... )

I find it really wrong all those slave AU fics, because it kinda tells how much people see Peter has a person of power over Neal, which is a total misread of their relationship. Neal is not a slave, he's not really even a prisoner.

To be fair, slave fics are infinitely more about someone's kink than they are about any sort of commentary on power hierarchies within the canon. Of course, most of fandom's view on the Neal and Peter relationship is largely stupid and wrong, but slave fics don't come so much from a place of, "Neal is like a slave in canon, and I'm going to write fic that shows it!" but rather, "Uff, wouldn't it be so hot if Neal were a slave?"

First impression: She was awesome. And somehow very Peter Burke-like. It was stated early in the show that her morale compass was pointed in the right direction. She was one of the rare good cops in a sea of dirty cops, but she was still smart enough to see that The Man in the Suit wasn't a bad guy.

Impression now: She wan't as Peter Burke-like as I thought. I don't really like the turn her character took in season 3. Her crusade against HR, and the way she ended up protecting Elias. I wasn't a big fan or Elias and never really understood why he had such a privileged relationship with Team Machine. And if I can accept Harold or John protecting a mobster, I find it harder to swallow coming from the morale-compass cop of the show.

Favorite moment: Her very last words. "John, don't let this..." Gah gets me everytime... *cries*
Oh! And the season 4 episode where she comes back. Though she's actually a projection of John's mind, so that's not *really* Carter...

Idea for a story: Not really.

Unpopular opinion: Interestingly, I think ( ... )

Sameen Shaw

First impression: I guess my first impression was that she was like a mini-Reese. Strong, badass, with a good heart (probably more strong and stable mentally than John though)

Impression now: OMG SHAW IS AWESOME! Seriously, how can you not find her super awesome in the way she escaped Samaritan, and remained so strong after all those horrible simulations?

Also, I can identify with her on a certain degree. I'm not as "animal" as she can be, but I like how she is just herself and doesn't care. And even though I'm not type II sociopath, or whatever her disorder was, I, too, have a hard time expressing my feelings. I do have feelings, I just don't always know how to express them, or how to react in certain social interactions. So, I really like Shaw for those aspects of her personality.

Favorite moment: It has to be when she shot Lambert. Oh the satisfaction! I swear I squeed!

Idea for a story: It would be very interesting to explore Shaw's relationship with The Machine/Root. Would they create their own virtual world?
