I hate the Know Your Female Characters Stereotype Chart so much.
(ETA: LJ is not letting me link it for some reason, but it is easily findable on Google, sorry.)

I don't normally write fandom justice posts. I don't think of myself as eloquent enough, firstly, and secondly, I often feel out of my depth with the issues presented. But this attitude in ( Read more... )

The way to do this is to think about the women that you write, take them seriously, and then don't be afraid to write them as they are, even if they don't in some way "measure up".

I just wanted to say "amen" and thank you for this essay and this sentence in particular. I agree so hard.

I've read few posts about the chart in question but I just wanted to say that I loved how you worded your conclusion in the last two paragraphs of your posts, because they sound so positive and definitely a much better way to deal with this issues.
