I’ve accomplished a few more goals since my last update, so long ago. Very long cutscene-filled post following…
I’ve been stuck on the NMs before the Ultima-Omega BC for a very long time, and finally I was able to clear them. As for the actual mission-BC, I managed to only die once - and that was on Omega itself. We had an interesting party setup: NIN, NIN, WAR, BLM, RDM, BRD.
The BC itself went really very smoothly, especially compared to the constant commentary in LS chat during other groups’ attempts. We won our first try, surprisingly enough.
For the next set of NMs, I managed to trio them all. The bugard and kraken were easy enough with three 70+ summoners beating on them, but for the tonberries I changed to RDM. Somehow, we started with a tonberry…
And ended up with…Orctrap?
At one point I believe we had somewhere around five or six different things beating on us at once, but we still managed to live through it all. No drop on the NM, of course…
Then came the next plague on my peace of mind: Tenzen. One last fight and I had Sea access…My first attempt was with the same two people I’d fought the NMs with, both on summoner still. We buffed, did a dance for good luck, and entered. Of course, we failed the first time.
As well as the following four tries. Cosmic Elucidation is as cheap as Nightmare, if not more infuriating. After a few thousand exp disappeared from my poor bar, I finally managed to luck out… The cutscenes that followed were beautiful… proving that despite all of the ridiculously luck-based fights, SE wasn’t completely coldhearted.
From there I went on a leveling spree any time I wasn’t at work or school, and after a few days’ worth of grinding:
