Windows 7 .. Really, who cares?

Oct 24, 2009 09:21

Why does everyone ask me if I'm excited about Windows 7 or if I've bought it already? Mind you, these are all people carrying iPhones so I can immediately categorise them as Band-wagon Jumpers, the sort of people who have to have the latest and greatest.

Personally, Win XP SP3 still works fine for me and I don't see any reason to upgrade.

XP SP3 here also. Why "fix" what isn't broken?

Every OS needs patched (Windows just seems to be a crazy quilt compared to the rest of them); I was just referring to "if it works for you, why change?"

No different from Mac OS. Install Snow Leopard and all your third party programs stop working. Same for latest iPhone and iPod Touch software (been on the receiving end of that!)

True, I'm in the IT industry, and PC OS is an important tool for my work. I'm also a realist and give them my honest opinion: I don't care.

I'm still on Win2000 Pro O.o Although, slowly, I'm starting to realize that soon I'll have to upgrade to something more modern >.>

Yeah, get a new PC and buy a new OS at the same time. Pricey, but having a disc you can install Windows is invaluable. I Love my XP Pro SP2 disc. Its used several times on both my machines.

To tell you the truth, I could really care less about upgrading my operating system. Unless their was a real need for me to upgrade, Windows XP is good enough for me.

Hell I didn't even now that they were releasing Windows 7 on the 22nd until everyone was making such a big fuss about it.

Did have Win XP Pro SP2 here, do have SP1 buuuuuuuuuuut it's a copy... *cough*

Unfortunately last week, one of the HD's (main one i used) went down hard and i accidently formated the backup.. cue me loosing a lot of data including the genuine copy of XP2 i had stored there (Uni student so get free MS software)

So.. bit the bullet and got Window's 7 , burnt onto a disk and suprisingly, with a bit of work Win 7 isn't so bad, ok a few progammes don't work yet, but 90% of my 3rd party software (anti virus, chat programmes, EVE online and so forth) work fine.
