Its always such a pain to upgrade one's technology. Its designed to be consumed, not be persistent. Worse, it demands you change your lifestyle to match rather than fitting into what you already have

Or cancel neither, and replace the router with one that plays nice with the modem. Keep the receipt.

Compatible firmware update released before the return period expires?
Yes: Return the new router for refund, apply update to current router.
No: Keep new router, sell current one on eBay to help offset cost.

There are only two, maybe three, wireless 3G routers on the market here, so my choice is limited. The modem I have is newer than the router I own, which is possibly the newest model available. As for software updates, I haven't read anything to say they will add my modem to the compatibility list any time soon.
