Sometimes, I feel like a Sims 2 noob. I've played the game since it came out, (and made my own CC), and apparently, I still don't know everything about it. So, I have a stupid question. I've looked for the answer on various Sims sites (like MTS), and of course, did a Google search, and I still haven't found the answer...

So, could someone please be ( Read more... )

A stealth hood is a template that installs itself to every new neighbourhood you make. In most cases, it doesn't actually add a new playable 'hood, except Free Time, which has the hobby 'hood like you mentioned (plus hobby club leaders, Picasos and Julien Cooke), and Apartment Life, which has the "witch" 'hood that contains the good and evil witch castles, and also social townie sims, and the Newson, Gavigan and Goodie families.

Pets, Seasons and Bon Voyage also have stealth hood, but these only install sims to your neighbourhood. Pets gives you Cyd Roseland, the Critturs, strays and adoptable pets, and pet instructors. Seasons gives you the Ottomas family, Ramaswamis and the Garden Club. Bon Voyage gives you the Travellers and a whole bunch of tourists.

These 'hoods can be found in the NeighbourhoodTemplate folder in each of the EP folders. I usually replace them with empty templates, so I don't get any of the sims that they contain in all my 'hoods. If I want the playables in a certain hood, I use my clean template versions.

Oh, and each of the stealth hoods add a 'suburb' neighbourhood file to your neighbourhood folder when they install themselves. You cannot avoid the stealth hoods entirely (the game expects them to be there and will likely complain/crash if they're not - plus the hobby and witch lots are needed), but the empty templates help a lot.

Thank you for explaining it to me! That's sort of what I thought they were, but I wasn't sure. I thought I might be missing out on more secret 'hood templates or something. :p

Also, it's funny that you commented on this...I just downloaded and starting using your Uberhood today! Which of course is the same post you mentioned the stealth 'hoods on, which led to my confusion! Ha.

Hah, I suspected you might've read it somewhere on my journal, because I use that term all the time (it's so fitting, don't you think?). I think I picked it up from MATY.

Enjoy the uberhood. :)
