Interesting. I see her as as very hardcore and revolutionary. And brave. Also I'd have to say that these things, eating granola, being wacky or a hippy, these aren't negatives per se. Wonder what the discrepancy is here?
Let me clarify, too (cause this electronic format can get tricky to interpret) that I'm not in the least offended. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

It's not really a single issue though; she's majorly involved in environmental sustainability which ties right in to, well, us in Immok for instance. It's not like she came down from the tree and got a corporate job. She's built a lifestyle based on sustainable models and is full-time working to share those with the people. Julia also has a very good analysis of her work and the political situation: last night she strongly disavowed the prison-industrial context and is also an activist in that field in CA.
I guess my larger point is that not everyone's an organizer in the same sense. Julia took on an issue in her own way and produced tremendous results in the form of calling international attention to sustainability issues and providing organizing models for other people.
Maybe too, it's hard to know exactly what people are doing with their time and resources (since the media's not gonna tell us what's up) unless they have the opportunity to tell us directly, like she did last night, so we draw our own conclusions.
