I'm used to President Bush arrogantly pushing his views across and I'm all too familiar with Israel's political leaders preciously guarding their own seats while the country suffers, but I did not expect docile Canada to wake me up from my honeymoon with politics ( Read more... )

The coalition sounds like a terrible TERRIBLE idea to me, and certainly not one borne of genuine concern for the country but rather pure opportunism.

I don't buy the Conservative argument that this is somehow undemocratic either. It's a minority government and the opposition are well within their right under our laws to do this, but a hastily planned THREE PARTY coalition with a weak outgoing Liberal leader is not going to be effective or agile in any way.

Also if I read one more person blog that this will grant the wish of "the 61% of Canadians who voted against the Conservatives", I may need to start a snarky blog-comment war.

For what it's worth, I probably would have voted Conservative in the Canadian elections, but I would have entertained the thought of voting Liberal. I would not have entertained voting for a THREE PARTY COALITION containing the NDP and Bloc.
