For cygny

Disclaimer: Not mine, I'm just borrowing.

Pippin stacked the carrots and cabbages in his arms, keeping an eye out for Farmer Maggot. Merry was investigating the nearest barrel and judging by the tone of his muttering, found it a disappointment. Pippin shrugged uncomfortably. He was a Took and ever since Bilbo's birthday he'd been...well, restless.

The Shire was home of course and he knew already that it always would be. But the party had stirred up longings that he'd never noticed before. Not just in him. They hadn't discussed it but he could feel Merry's fidgeting too. Bilbo was the local legend - the hobbit who had gone into the outside world and made friends with elves, dwarves and men. He had seen the Misty Mountains, riddled with a dragon and come back rich beyond belief.

It had been an eye-opener. A reminder that the world outside was big and strange and filled with marvellous things that he suddenly wanted passionately to see. He was so lost in the day dream that he only saw Farmer Maggot when the Man turned the corner and saw them. His bellow of rage prompted a mad dash across the crop-choked fields. Pippin sprinted on ahead, hearing Merry panting behind him and reached a conclusion.

"I need a holiday."
