New flat, new job...

*waves*

Hey everyone!

Today is my third day at my new job and I'm enjoying it very much so far. I have learned all the boring bits (where the fire exit is etc) and moved onto the interesting bits, like how to mark up a manuscript for typesetter. I only know a few of the technical squiggles so far but they want me to go on a course next month, so ( Read more... )

Oh, glad to know you're enjoying the job, it sounds like a lot of fun. I await the appearance of your name on the Editorial Board page with great anticipation. Do me a favour and point me in the direction of any funny articles, would you? I know they're not particularly common, but I'm collecting amusing papers for an eventual lj post, and if I find enough I hope to make it a regular thing. If there's any journal they should crop up in (apart from medical journals), I'd think Reproduction would be it.
I've managed to mostly resist askabiologist, but now I've given my paper bits to my sup, I can hopefully browse it a bit. The women in science site sounds very useful - I didn't know about them, and it so happens they have a special program all for immigrant women (probably not aimed at reasonably-off native-English-speaking First World immigrant women, but as long as they don't *say* that...perhaps they can help me get some funding to compensate for all the funding I'm not eligible for as a foreigner?).

Haha sounds like a good idea!

I dunno about funny articles though - everything so far seems to be pretty standard.

My name won't be on the editorial board page - that's just for the important people like the peer reviewers etc. But you'll know that every missed typo is my fault, and that's what counts. ^_^
