Teacher Ed students have left me in despair!

I'm now of the opinion that all teaching candidates should have a mandatory class in logic. Never before have I seen such inane, illogical writing in my life. The process seems to be 1) look at the question, 2) make random sweeping generalization, 3) put in random quotes/paraphrases from the text to "support" your "argument," 4) expect good grade. Afraid so... some JYAs are really good, and others not. Much like everyone else, really; but a lot of the students have had little to no essay practice before coming to Oxford.
