What I did to myself today.

So I was pootling along on my bicycle, having made this journey over a hundred times now (Gosh D8) I was pretty confident but still, for no apparent reason, felt like something was going to happen. I was cycling along the street, when this car came up and stopped by the cycling route, funneling it a little bit, but there was plenty of space to get through...

...and then my foot slipped on the pedal, getting stuck between it and the high edge of the pavement, and scraped along. Naturally, I was like, "Don't look at it until you can stop." - it was smarting a bit and I figured I could cycle it off.

I got to the traffic lights and took a look. First, I saw that my shoe was torn up all to hell.

Then I realised that the topmost of my two pairs of socks was full of holes...

...and the second, too.

...and I could see blood beneath that. So it was pretty much decided that I was going to the nurse's office when I got to work.

By the time I got there, it was almost numb with the cold and I thought, "Actually, it doesn't feel that bad. I'll probably be fine, I just need a plaster."

A proper look proved that the top of my foot had kind of split open between the toes ._. The nurse pretty much covered me in those wound-closing stitches because apparently, "It's gaping a little bit. And it won't stop bleeding." The dark area is bruising. The toes were bruised too. Having been through this before, I know how it works... the initial toe-bruising recedes, then returns. All my toes will probably be black in a few days. I got an ice pack for my first hour, which was interesting to explain in the office.

I didn't get a lollypop for my bravery, but the plaster got soaked pretty quickly and when I went back she showed me off to an extremely ill-looking girl who probably DIDN'T want to look.

I had a morning of classes and when I got back, Sensei had left me a pack of plasters. When I asked her, she was like, "Present! :D"

Gotta love the school nurse.
