You feel cheated because it's your future that you wanted to choose to live out, not their choice. You sure you can't take out loans or something to just bust it out and pay it off later? (I'm like, living off of loans here at CalArts practically, with a little help from my parents)
Actually, I am doing a lot of loans, the amount I do with my package - These loans my parents don't even count as aid because I have to pay them back anyway. Bleeeh. But it's not like I wasn't offered anything bad - they cut off 60% of my tuition without extra scholarships but even with that my parents have issues. My mom doesn't think I can pay off loans because of my "art" career. lol...
It's not insulting. You /earned/ Carnegie and I'm proud of you. I certainly couldn't have pulled it off, and it would be so tragic if you couldn't go there! But you know, you ARE 18 now. You don't have to listen to anything they have to say. You can take out loans by yourself and go wherever the hell you like. It might not be worth it, but just remember it is an option for you. I hope this works out!! *sends wired love*
That must have been really dissapointing...you seemed very eager to get out California and go somehwere new. Don't be so discouraged there many ways out of this. May be you could ask your parents to pay for a year or two first. That gives you time to get a job take out a loan to pay for the rest. If worse comes to worse and you do have to go to Davis, you can always transfer after a year or two, it would be cheaper that way. I wish you the best of luck!! =)
