Summary: The cause of Heechul's tears on the set of The Trax's new video.
The director walked onto the set and spoke to Heechul, “You’re going to have to cry. In the video you’ve broken up with the person you really love and you have to convey your feelings of sadness. I realize this may be hard for you to imagine but pretend… pretend you’ve lost the love of your life. Put your heart and soul into it.” He patted the star on the back and moved behind the camera with the other production crew, saying he’d give Heechul five minutes to prepare himself.
But he didn’t need five minutes. Heechul knew what he’d have to do; he was briefed on his role in the video beforehand. He didn’t need to pretend he’d lost the love of his life. He didn’t need to dig deep for the sadness and tears. He was always just one step away from crying since the day Hankyung had broken up with him.
“It’s for the best Heechul. Do you want us to end up like Jaejoong and Yunho? The lawsuit’s taken a toll on their relationship… I don’t want that to happen to us.” The Chinese man turned away from his lover as he continued to pack his bags.
Heechul laughed bitterly, “So what you want us to break up then? At least Jaejoong and Yunho are still together!” He paused, watching Hankyung pack up the last of his belongings into his suitcase. “You can’t leave me Hannie. I don’t want you to leave me.”
Hankyung zipped the final bag closed before he turned to face Heechul. His expression was unreadable as he moved forward and engulfed the other in his arms. “You’re right, they’re still together but the love they once had is now gone. In the end Jaejoong will always resent Yunho for not joining him in the lawsuit even though he knows why Yunho couldn’t and vice versa. I don’t want our relationship to end because we hate each other Heechul. Don’t you get that?”
The other responded by shaking his head furiously, “No I don’t get it. I don’t get why you want to leave me this way! I know you have to leave but why do you have to leave me?” He broke away from Hankyung's embrace. “I don’t want you to leave me!”
Hankyung closed his eyes and exhaled heavily, mentally wishing Heechul would be more understanding. Grabbing his bags he walked passed Heechul as he decided to leave things as is, but something made him stop. He couldn’t let Heechul hang on and wait for him forever. He paused in the doorway, “Stop being such a diva. You can’t always get what you want in life. You and I are done.” He straightened up and walked away without as much as a goodbye or backward glance.
“Heechul-ssi, are you ready?” The director’s voice pulled Heechul out of his sad reverie. He swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded in confirmation. “Alright, quiet on set! Roll playback… action!”
Picking up the canvas, Heechul heard the swell of music of The Trax’s new song. Staring at the image on the canvas he pictured Hankyung. His heart swelled with sorrow and all the pain that came with the memory of his former lover blossomed into his mind. It was still fresh in his mind, every single moment spent with him. His gaze returned to the canvas, and he could feel his resolve breaking down. One tear fell, quickly followed by another; he cried until he collapsed onto the set, feeling broken and empty.
