Second Chance Ch. 3

Jul 02, 2009 14:36

Chinen recognized the voice to be Masuda’s. “Yes, Masuda-san, you can come in.”

Masuda poked her way in and put down the toilet paper roll near, well, the toilet. She got a chair and pushed it toward the mirror. Then she looked at Chinen as if expecting him to sit in the chair.

“Miss Yuuri?” Masuda asked in a puzzled tone, “Do you not have an outing today? Therefore, should you not get ready? Unless I have mistaken the date...”

“Uh, oh THAT outing. I almost forgot. Thank you for reminding me, Masuda-san.” Chinen smiled, wondering why Inoo didn’t tell him about it as he sat down in the chair.

“It’s my pleasure. After all, I am here to serve you.” Masuda smiled back at Chinen.

Masuda worked with Chinen’s hair first. She tied his hair in a ponytail with a bright, green ribbon. Next, Masuda worked on Chinen’s makeup. She put on some foundation, applied some blush to Chinen’s cheeks, and added some lip gloss on his lips. Masuda picked up a mascara brush, looked at Chinen’s eyelashes, and put the mascara brush back down. To top it all off, Masuda put a pair of red, heart-shaped dangle earrings on Chinen.

Masuda smiled and clapped her hands in joy once she finished.

“Kawaii!”

Chinen blushed. I look like one of those neon signs. He thought to himself. Chinen, of course, wasn’t going to be impolite and say so in front of Masuda.

“I’ll be downstairs. Come down whenever you want to.” Masuda bowed and left Chinen to himself.

There was no reason for Chinen to stay so he too left the bathroom and headed downstairs. As he walked, he wondered how his parents were like.

“Ohaiyo, Chi~”

He knew that voice. It was his mother’s. Not the stepmother that was horrible to him but his real mother. No, there’s no way…then again this was like a parallel universe, so maybe here his mom didn’t die.

“Ohaiyo, okaa-san, otou-san…” Chinen said hesitantly, cautiously tiptoeing over to the dining room.

He heard a laugh. It was a man’s voice this time. “What’s wrong, Yuuri? Why are you so hesitant? We are your family after all.”

Chinen peeked into the room. On his left, his mother was wearing an apron, smiling at him. She was putting down some food on the table. On his right, a young looking man was also smiling at him. He must be his father.

Now, unlike his other father and stepmother, his parents here looked completely different. His mom had a small frame and elegant features. She also had long, bouncy, black hair that flowed below her shoulders. His stepmother had short, stringy, oily, messy hair. She was big and man-like. His father here had a friendly, young face. He actually had hair unlike his other father who was bald and very…toad-like. In other words, his other dad was a very fat man.

Chinen could just cry. He did. But just a little.

He felt a tap at his shoulder. It was Inoo.

“What are you doing? Don’t cry. It looks weird. Wipe your eyes.” Inoo warned him.

He was right. This was not the time to break down. He wiped his tears hastily, hoping his parents didn’t see. Luckily they weren’t paying attention.

“So…” His father asked as his scanned through a newspaper he was reading. “Do you have a date?”

“Eh?” Chinen’s butt was in mid-air, about to sit on a chair.

“I’m just saying. You’re all dressed up.” His father hummed.

“Honey, how is it possible for Chi to get a date so fast? We just recently moved here. But if you do, Chi, you must promise to tell your mother okay?” His mom hugged Chinen, smiling.

“EEH?!” Chinen said again, confused. What are they talking about?!?

As if right on cue, Masuda bustled in, face bright red. She bowed deeply.

“Ah! Sumimasen deshita! I told Miss Yuuri that she was to go with you. I forgot that it was only suppose to be only Miss Yuuri’s parents. My deepest apologies!”

Masuda bowed again. Chinen’s parents looked at one another, now understanding why Chinen was all dressed up. However, Chinen was still very confused.

“It’s alright, Takahina-chan.” Chinen’s mother said soothingly, “I hope you don’t mind staying here with Taka-chan, Chi. Your father and I have to go and eat lunch with some very important people.”

“It’s all part of my promotion.” Chinen’s father added, “Sorry we can’t bring you with us, Yuuri. It’s all boring talk anyways.” He paused to look at his watch. “We better get going too.”

Chinen’s mom hugged him. His dad waved goodbye. Then they left and Chinen was alone with his maid who was still looking down, ashamed.

“Masuda-san, don’t be so upset. We all make mistakes.” Chinen said, trying to comfort her while he grabbed a bowl and a pair of chopsticks, helping himself to the foods on the table.

“But I’m your maid. Maids don’t make mistakes. They make mistakes and they get fired. Now I have to cancel my date with-” She covered her mouth.

“So that’s why you’re so unhappy.” Chinen nodded knowingly. After several mouthfuls of food, Chinen smiled. “Why don’t you go? I won’t tell my parents.”

“Oh no no no no!” Masuda shook her head furiously, “I could never do that!”

“It’s okay, Masuda-san. Go ahead and have fun with your boyfriend.”

“Well…” Masuda played with the hem of her skirt, “He’s not boyfriend yet.”

“That’s all the more reason to go. Make him your boyfriend.” Chinen smiled.

“If you insist…” Masuda bowed. “Thank you so much, Miss Yuuri!"

Chinen continued his breakfast as Masuda rushed out of the room. Several minutes later, he heard hurried footsteps that were followed by a soft thud. He was alone now.

“You handled that well.”

Correction, he was now accompanied with two angels.

“Mm? I guess I did.” Chinen replied, picking up the dishes and dumping them in the dishwasher. “Mind lending me a hand?”

Daiki and Inoo picked up the remaining utensils and helped Chinen clean up. Once everything was cleared, they sat down and talked about Chinen’s new life. Inoo explained about how life would be now that he was a girl. In other words, the average girl’s daily needs, emotions, and, well, girls in general while Daiki talked about his parents, his school, and, basically, his life.

“You’ve got to change it.” Inoo said suddenly, interrupting their conversation.

“Huh?” Chinen and Daiki stared at Inoo dumbly.

“You’ve got to change the pad now, Chinen.” Inoo said again, this time more clearly.

“Oh, right.” He stood up. “Wait, I don’t know where they are.”

“Don’t look at us. We may be your guardian angels, but we don’t know where you put your stuff.” Inoo stated.

“I don’t know either! I just woke up in this body this morning! Quick, help me look for some.” Chinen said hastily.

They spent a long time turning the house upside down, trying to find the pads. After what seemed like forever, they still didn’t find any.

“You know what you have to now, don’t you?” Inoo smirked.

“What’s…that?” Chinen gasped, out of breath from his search.

Daiki drifted in with a purse.

“Sorry, Chi…” He gave Chinen an apologetic smile.

“Oh, no… You mean I have to?" Chinen pointed to himself.

His two angels nodded.

"This is just great. Being a girl just keeps on getting better and better.” Chinen sighed.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Chinen stood in the aisles of a supermarket, blushing and staring at the rows of items. Daiki and Inoo were back at the house, fixing up the mess they had created during their scavenger hunt.
Chinen sighed, "I can't believe I'm doing this."
He stared hopelessly at shelves. Finally, he gave up and pulled down the first one he put his hands on and went to pay for it. Luckily, he found a cashier that was a girl was had no customers. that was good. the faster he could get out of there, the better.
"Welcome, what can I do for you?" the cashier said in a manly voice.
"I would like to buy this, please." Chinen answered, not looking up and giving the cashier the package.
Wait, that voice sounded like a man's. I didn't mistaken...
Chinen looked up abruptly. Sure enough, it was a man. Chinen went back to staring at his feet. How could he mistaken a guy for a girl? He peeked at the cashier. He was short with black hair. He had a somewhat rounded, chubby face. As he scanned the package, he was making an adorable face, sticking his chin out.
Chinen studied every feature on his face, watched every little moment he made, but what attracted him the most was the guy's hands. He had the most elegant, pretty hands he had ever seen. They were just gorgeous.
"That would be....8...dollars and....53....cents." the cashier said, obvious very uncomfortable with the current sitiuation.
Chinen quickly paid. The cashier stuck the pads in a plastic bag and handed it to Chinen. He grabbed it and practically ran out the door.
How could I mix up a guy with a girl? Chinen thought angrily to himself as he walked home. But...he was cute. Especially the way he stuck his chin out. And his hands were just...amazing! Oh god! What am I thinking? I'm a boy! Okay, a boy in a girl's body, but still a boy! Boys do not LIKE boys. Boys like girls. GIRLS, I say!
Chinen couldn't stop himself from blushing. He quicken his pace and tried to forget the cute cashier back at the supermarket.
"Miss Yuuri!"
Chinen turned his head to the voice. "Masuda-san? Back from your date?"
Masuda beamed at Chinen. "Uh-huh! It was great! (Omg! it rhymes! XD great? date? I'm a rhyming genius!) Eh? What's that you've got there?" Masuda peeked at the bag making Chinen blush even more.
"I couldn't find any ao I went to buy some." Chinen mumbled.
"Oh! I should have told you where it was! I'm so sorry! i'll show you so next time you don't to buy it!" Masuda exclaimed, not even moderately shocked that Chinen didn't know where the pads where in his own house.
Masuda took out a key, unlocked the door to the house, and led Chinen upstairs to his room. Then he opened a door to a closet. On the top shelf, it was packed with pads.
"Oh, so that's where they all were." Chinen heard Inoo say behind him.
"I told you we should've looked in the closet first!" Daiki huffed.
Chinen could barely hear them. He was, for the 100th time, drifting back to the thoughts of the the nameless cashier. And, yet again, he felt the same feeling. His heart was racing, he felt anxious, he wanted to see the cute cashier boy again. Why? Why did he feel like this?
It isn't love...is it?
