Fall Break

Oct 11, 2004 17:25

So I know I said, I'd update about last weekend, but then again that was last weekend. I'll talk about this weekend.
Friday was the start of Fall break and on Thursday I found a ride to the city earlier than my first plan of coming down on Saturday night. Lauren N. drove Becca to Syracuse airport and then her and I drove 5 1/2 hours down to NJ where she lives. It was soooo much fun. Road trips are awesome! Her and I were singing and eating candy in her silver VW beetle(one from like 2001) and it was such a blast!!! We got to her house and her bf had come and I met him and we ate some pasta and watched the second debate. We went to bed around midnight and had to wake up around 8am because she had to drive to the train station. We couldn't find this train station and we ended up going to her aunt's house(Lauren's hapa and her aunt is an Americanized Japanese). Her aunt was cute and gave me a little book with maps of different areas of Manhattan because it was decided that since Lauren's brother wasn't going with them into the city they would have room for me. We got back to her house and it ended up her brother was going so we just squished her brother, her mom and I into the back. It wasn't that squished though. The drive into the city took about 45 minutes and we drove to her mom's friend's place in the Financial district. They drove me to the subway station so I could take it up to Grand Central Station to switch onto the Metro North to go up to to my mom's friend's house where I'm staying now.
The train ride up was nice and met these people for the first time. Bob and his girlfriend Dayna(?) are very nice and welcomed me right away. Saturday night we went to eat at a small Italian place and then went to the movies. We planned on seeing "Shark's Tale" but when I got there I saw the "Taxi" was showing and I just HAD to see that. I mean I can't miss Jimmy!!! Anyway it was hilarious!!! Queen Latifah was very good in it as well.
Sunday, Bob and Dayna had a wedding to attend so we left here around 2pm picked up Bob's mom(also a guest at the wedding) and they dropped me off at the train station so I could spend the day in the city.
I got out of Grand Central and there was a bazaar like thing going on with tents all sorts of vendors. Looked at cheap jewelry and other things. Bought two pairs of sequined sandals for $2. Then I walked over to Times Square and looked in the Gap, Sephora, Virgin Records but didn't buy anything. There was a guy doing henna tattoos so I gave him an idea of what I wanted, very similar to what I had done at Grad Nite so that was cool but I must have looked fun walking around Times Square with my lower back exposed.;) I called my friend at NYU and I headed downtown on the subway. I walked around dowtown Broadway a little. Bought some comfy boots and underwear at Victoria's Secret. Got a hold of mly friend and headed up a little to to Washington Square park. I had some coffee at Starbuck's and he was coming back from dinner so he met me by the park and we walked over to his frat. The apartment for the frat itself is nice but guys are kind of gross in general so it was kind of what I was used to at HWS. I just talked to him in his room for awhile and then I had to catch the subway up to Grand Central to go back up to Croton-Harmon. My friend walked me to the subway station I went in, was waiting for the train when I realized I had left my stuff in his room so I ran out making sure the attendent guy would let me back in and called my friend to brought my stuff down. I went up to Penn station and since my friend had asked his friend to look up train times I thought I wouldn't make the 1020 one. There's a shuttle sub from Penn stations to Grand Central and while I was waiting this guy comes up and is like. "Hey Beautiful is this the train to go to Staten Island?" and I'm like "No, those trains would be that way(and I point)". He had like three friend with and I can distinctly smell alcohol on the breath and notice their southern accent. He goes on to say, "Could you show me? Ineed a beautiful tour guide", and I go " Sorry, I'm in a rush"(which I was. He says "Ok, thank you" and asks me my name and shakes my hand, I shake his and he says his name. He's like "You got a firm handshake there". So as they leave he gives a nod to this older lady nearby. They go off. I got to Grand Central found the train track and ran, made the 1020 and when I get on the train I look on my map and realize the subway goes down near the south tip of Staten Island but you have to take a ferry there. That was by far the most odd experience this weekend.
Bob and Dayna picked me up from the train station and we came back. Bob had told me earlier friends of his would be here. We get out of the car and go up through the basement and I'm the first one into the house and the youngest son, Cole is on the couch. He introduces himself and his parents are sleeping and his brother was somewhere. He was explained to me as the artsy nice guy and he transferred to a SUNY college nearby. He's 19, and I thought he was cuter than his brother but his brother, Jordan was expained to by Dayna, anyway, as the hot jock. He has stronger features and has the "jock" look. He's like 21 or 22. They were both really nice. Bob, Jordan, Cole and I watch this hilarious but pointless movie and Bob goes up to bed and I finish watching the movie with Cole and Jordan. The whole time Cole's doing his Chinese and Italian homework(his school had class today). I finally go to bed and sleep until 10am this morning.
I wake up and meet their parents, Paula and Leslie as well as their grandma. Paul and Leslie live in Buffalo and are soo sweet.Their grandma lives in FL and was visiting. Apparently J and C had been up until the wee hours of the morning and went upstairs to sleep more. While they were sleeping the rest of us had breakfast. After they woke up(a little clarification, Dayna had gone to work early in the morning and Bob had gone and picked up his two sons who are 9 and 12 as well as the dog) and there were all these people we got everyone organized so that Cole would drive back to his school and his family would drive home to Buffalo. Bob, his two sons and I lead Cole to where he needs to go on the highway and his family splits off. Bob, his sons Ethan and Max, and I go to a small shopping center and I go to WalMart where I buy a couple things. I bought a magazine and was looking at it in the car later and realized it was missing 11pages(the music movie section of Seventeen, the little black book section) I don't know if it was just the magazine or what but I won't bother. We ate pizza at the same little Italian place. I must say thin pizza is sooo good here. We then stayed awhile at Bob's mom's house. She's the sweetest old lady and is leaving for her FL house tomorrow morning. I guess a lot of old ppl have houses in FL. Bob and I dropped of his sons and came back here. I started watching "Big Momma's House", Dayna and her three year old daughter Kasie came home and we had dinner.
Now I'm sitting here online. I haven't been online in three days. I am sooo tired and I should get sleep since I have to wake up earlier tomorrow. Bye for now! Love ya all!
