Prologue

“Why do they always have to be all over each other?”

They were sitting on a couch across the set from them, and yes, they were all over each other.

“Give it a rest, Jun.” Nino couldn’t figure out why the other member wouldn’t stop complaining about the other two. They had been a band for nine years already. You’d think they’d be used to each other by now.

“Oh come on, you don’t think that’s gross?” At this point, it wasn’t apparent whether Jun was referring to the public display or the fact that the offenders were both boys. Actually, both points had been beaten into the ground by Matsujun in only the last week.

In order to preserve the little admiration he still had for the superstar, Nino blamed the fact that Jun had been overworked (more than the rest of the group, anyway) as of recently. Not only had they sped up the filming of Himitsu no Arashi-chan after their initial success, but Jun had been working desperately with the staff of Hana Yori Dango Final to get the film out by their deadline (not to mention all the promotional plugging he’d been doing, too). On top of that, there would be a huge string of Arashi concerts beginning next month.

Still. Nino wouldn’t forgive Jun if he made Aiba cry because of his little attitude problem brought on by lack of rest. It had almost happened during the last filming of Himitsu: Jun had pretty much yelled at Aiba for the technical difficulties he’d caused by tripping on some cables backstage. He’d apologized immediately after the words had left his mouth, but it had taken Sho ten minutes of patting the animal lover’s back and whispering in his ear before Aiba was completely back to normal.

“Leader, you agree with me, don’t you?” Jun turned away from Nino, who was obviously not happy about the topic of conversation, and instead elbowed Ohno lightly in the side.

The captain gave his usual blank stare, although his eyebrows may have just slightly been bent in frustration. He grunted, obviously not agreeing, and turned back to watching Sho and Aiba make out on the couch across the room from the other three members.

Although there had been no official announcement of their newfound (physical) relationship, the rest of the band had immediately sensed the change in their chemistry. The leftover trio had started giving the pair just a little more room than usual, especially after not being together for a while, and therefore usually had some time to kill without Aiba there to entertain them. Unfortunately, with the lack of their two most chatty members, Nino and Ohno had been subjected to Jun’s talk about fashion, his latest DVD purchases, and eventually complaints about Sakuraiba.

Today, Sho and Aiba had started giggling, groping and kissing some twenty minute before. They were supposed to be reading over the tentative script for next week, sitting on the couch that the entire group occupied in their downtime. When Nino had left the two of them there for a drink of water, though, he had come back to find, not Sakurai and Aiba, but Sakuraiba.

So, instead of interrupting the sickeningly sweet couple, he had asked an employee for an extra copy of the script and sat down on the camera staff’s couch across the room, which was half hidden behind the filming equipment. It was a while before they started filming, though, so no one was around to use it anyway.

By the time Leader showed up, yawning indiscreetly behind his hand, Sho had slipped down to laying on the couch, Aiba leaning over him, his hand gently resting on the drama star’s chest. They were tenderly kissing, every once in a while separating enough to whisper something and smile at each other.

Ohno immediately bypassed them, seeing Nino half heartedly wave at him from his haven behind the cameras.

“They’re so cute I could puke,” Nino said lightly, smiling at Ohno as the captain plopped down on the opposite end of the couch. Ohno chuckled and nodded, looking back down at his own paper’s he’d brought with him. The couch was fairly small compared to their usual (currently occupied) one, so despite sitting on opposite ends, they were still almost close enough to touch.

Nino and Ohno sat in their usual comfortable silence for about ten minutes, occasionally looking up to see if Sakuraiba had become Sakurai and Aiba again. But, even when Jun came in much later than he usually would (he had probably been plugging Hana Yori Dango Final on some variety show) the lovebirds were still caught up in their own little world, neither realizing the rest of the group gathering across from them. Nino pondered if it had been a long time since the other two had seen each other or not, because that was usually the deciding factor for how long he would leave them alone.

Jun had let out an audible sigh when he, too, noticed the couple (how could you not, they were right there in the middle of everything) and trudged over to Nino and Ohno, his boots clinking annoyingly on the tile floor. The gamer sighed too. He knew where this was going.

After dropping a briefcase he had been carrying with him in front of one of the camera stands, Matsujun took his place in the middle of the couch, waiting only two seconds for Ohno and Nino to move to make room for him.

Nino sighed again. Yep, Jun was definitely in a mood today.

And thus began “Jun’s complaining corner” as Nino endearingly called it.

As the conversation progressed, Nino sighed for the third time. “Jun, they love each other, what’s the problem?” He was tired of having to listen to Jun complain every time the two of them went off into their own personal lovey-dovey land.

Which was a lot.

Therefore Nino’s patience was running thin.

“Oh please. They’re both guys. That kind of relationship is not going to go anywhere.” Jun seemed particularly frustrated, looking Nino directly in the eyes and crossing his arms in front of his chest rather girlishly. His breath huffed slightly for emphasis.

But to Nino, saying something like that was going too far.

The gamer stood up, not bothering to reply, his mouth pursed in a frown, and the leather couch slowly puffed up from where he had been seated a moment ago. If he responded to that statement, nothing good would come of it. He would argue with Jun for the third time this week, and he might even start physically pushing him around again. They would be filming the next episode of Himitsu soon and Nino really needed to cool down so he didn’t do something stupid on-air.

“I’m not listening to this shit anymore.” Nino was proud at how calm and controlled that sounded, although inside he really felt like tipping the couch over and shaking Jun until the curls on his prissy little head went straight.

He slowly and pointedly walked across the filming room and opened the door leading into the hallway. Nino noticed Ohno get up directly after him and follow him to the door, not so much as looking at the man they had left behind.

As the two of them passed, Sho had the decency to push Aiba back enough to watch the door close behind them, then turned back to his partner. Aiba raised his eyebrow in return and shrugged.

“I wonder what happened…?” Leaving his hands on Aiba’s chest, the newscaster glanced over at Jun, who had had a permanent scowl on his face, outside of filming at least, since last Thursday. Their eyes met and Sho thought for sure the man was glaring at him, before Jun also stood and walked the opposite direction from Leader and Nino.

When Sho turned back, Aiba was watching, too, suddenly looking very worried.

“It’s probably nothing…” Sho said consolingly, to keep Aiba from getting upset. Despite saying that, he still pushed himself off the couch and from under his boyfriend, going back to the papers they had abandoned a while ago.

“Damn, he’s gotten his panties in a twist lately.” The two close friends had made their way down the hall to a deserted waiting lounge. Instead of taking one of the seats, Nino leaned up against the bare white wall, rubbing his temple with his forefinger and thumb, and let his eyes drift shut. His other hand rested on the crook of his elbow.

Satoshi followed him silently, placing his hands sheepishly in his pockets. He didn’t lean against the wall himself, but they were close enough that they could talk without being overheard from the hallway.

The silence lasted for a few seconds before a smirk suddenly graced Nino’s lips.

“Ne, Leader.”

Ohno looked up from his shoes curiously.

Nino held back a laugh. Satoshi could always tell when Nino had something interesting to say.

“How about we play a prank on Jun? Well, not a prank exactly.”

Ohno raised an eyebrow.

It had been a while since Nino had felt like he had come up with anything good, but this idea was golden. It was perfect for getting Jun out of his bad mood, plus it would be fun for the two of them as well.

Nino waited for Ohno to give him a slight nod before continuing.

“Let’s have a contest.” Nino pushed himself off the wall and instead looped his arm around Satoshi’s neck, resting it lightly on his opposite shoulder and already feeling a thousand times better. Maybe he could make it through the filming today after all.

Ohno didn’t say anything in response, just as Nino had expected, but his eyes were sparkling a little in that “little kid way” that was just the essence of Ohno. The gamer smiled widely and Ohno’s lips curved a little too at the change of mood.

“The ‘Who Can Seduce Jun First’ contest!” Nino said brightly, throwing his head back and letting out a few laughs. Ohno chuckled with him too, but more with a ‘I can’t believe that’s what you came up with’ sort of laugh.

A/N: This story is dedicated to the lovely yarukizero. She’s the one who introduced me to Arashi and she helped me out tremendously with this story. Plus, she’s got a hot body.

Decided to post this despite school starting next week meaning the updates may be a little sporadic. I have most of it written already (I didn't want to post until I was sure I wasn't going to drop it half way through and make you all mad at me) so at least you won't have to wait for that.

Feedback/criticism is welcome. I'm relatively new to Arashi fandom, so I did a bunch of research on the timeline I wanted to use, but that doesn't mean I'm 100% accurate.

Also, please leave a review! They’re like little tiny birthday cakes for authors. Well, I guess it’s not a birthday cake unless it’s your birthday, and if it was a tiny cake it would be a cupcake, right… so… like cupcakes… that are special… :D

On to chapter one!!!
