one of my good friends has been at LISA all week. I've watched a couple of the streamed talks -- very good! (not really in my area of work specifically these days but still useful because I still think about and deal with these things).

Applescript terminology is defined largely by the applications you talk to. If you have a 'tell application "iTunes"' block, then between that and the 'end tell' the iTunes keywords are available. The terminology is provided in the form of a "dictionary" which you can browse from Script Editor via the Open Dictionary command. (Warning: the human-legible dictionary is frequently not well-documented enough to be that useful.) LISA 2010: San Jose
LISA 2011: Boston
LISA 2012: San Diego
LISA 2013: DC

Also of interest is the 2010 USENIX Security Symposium in DC Aug 9-13, but that's a nasty time of year to be wandering around DC.

winter is neat!

if you go out in the morning, when no one else is up, the snow on the ground sounds fantastic... you hear *nothing*

and there's snowman-building, boot-skating, snowball-throwing, turkey-bowling, northern-lights-viewing, big-fat-sweater-wearing, hot-chocolate-drinking, fondue-eating, spouse-snuggling...

i hate spring, when everything is melty and wet and gross.
