Renewing tags on a one-ton dualie pickup

Mine is renewed every two years in Maryland. And it is the same price as my car's tags.
Oddly enough, the trailer's tags cost more. And they are also renewed bi-yearly.
I bought my year-old at the time truck for 32K. It had 12K miles on it. This was in 2002.
And for pulling power, I would recommend diesel over 4x4 if you're choosing. I've only used mine a few times ever. I only used it in conjunction with the horse because I was at a horse show & I dragged out others who went into much. But, unless she plans on trailering out in crap weather, 4x4 won't be necessary. If weather is really bad, I am not riding. And I don't want to go into fields which need 4x4 to get out of. You don't need it on any of the farm roads. I've never used 4x4 on a farm road, not even on the rural ones in VA & WVA & KY that I've driven on.

Interesting. Two guys at the office use one-ton pickups to shlep around their fifth wheels and noted that they had to renew their tags yearly. That does make a duallie saner prospect. I don't know that we _need_ it, but they're an option.
I didn't mention diesel, though, because I figured it was pretty much a given at this level.
