As I recall, I promised to post up some pictures of stuff that I had made for Samantha (and myself, a little). I'm finally getting around to it. There are a couple different things to note here.
1) The lovely white/plaid outfit my MiL sewed for Samantha.
2) Samantha now has a doll of her own--she has a mini Nellie doll (her best friend from the ( Read more... )

Aw, thanks. I always feel guilty when people tell me I'm talented for crocheting. I feel like it's something that anyone can learn if they put the time in, whereas creative stuff, like drawing or writing, or even designing your own patterns is just not up my alley. I'm a follower, all the way.

Oh, but following patterns so beautifully is definitely a talent in itself! Believe me, I've tried crocheting before, and none of it has ever turned out as pretty as that!

I guess talent would be two people following the same instructions - one turning out a masterpiece (like yours), and one making woolly bladders like Hermione. :)

Well, I guess we can't have woolly bladders! Thanks for pointing it out in a different way that makes me feel more talented!

Oh my. These are so cute! I love the all the outfits - the muff on the string looks great, by the way, and I am in utter awe of the talent that you and your MiL have.

Also the snowflake blankets are gorgeous. They must have taken a year and a day to make, but are stunning. Like your work, as Katie would say.

Ah excellent. I'm glad someone commented on the string. It makes it so much harder to lose! See above for what I said about talent in crocheting. ooooh, singing and music writing! There's another talent, one for which I am not gifted and you are. Crocheting--at least what I do, following patterns, is a skill, not a talent. But thanks for the lovely thought all the same! ;) My MiL is talented, she made that pattern up herself!

Actually--the big snowflake one did take about a year...mostly because I started it, but because it was a project for myself, it got put down every time I needed to make something for someone else. I love, love, LOVE them, though. I think they're gorgeous. Glad you like them, too!
