Nothing is wrong with you! Maybe you aren't ready for it yet- maybe you should talk with your professors and see what you can do in the interim between now and re-applying to become more solid in what you need to be academically better in so when you come back you will rock and people will be like "what? she left for a bit? but why?? she's amazing!!" because you are. try not to be too discouraged- well, be that way for a little bit but then get defiant! and say no! i am not going to take this! i am going to figure out what i need to do and then i am going to get back in and be the best student ever! because i know you can be. if i can suck as much as school as i did my first time around and get better, i know you can. sometimes things just take longer than they are Allegedly supposed to. In the long run that just means you get better and know things more thoroughly. I love you!

oh I empathize so much sweetpea, i feel like i'm sliding down this same slipperly slope as i've done so many times before. take a deep breath, regroup, and remind yourself YOU DESERVE THE CHANCE TO TRY THIS AGAIN IF YOU WANT TO. If it's the paperwork that's always tripping you up see if your school offers tutors or a learning assesment thing to help you help you. but try to fight that feeling of failure as much as you can, i know it's hard, but it's hard not to believe something when that's what we keep telling ourselves. so fight withyourself if you need to, remind yourself over and over again that you are wonderful and able and capable and deserving and lovely. say it again and again b/c you and your happiness are worth fighting for. Have you ever been checked for ADD or another learning challenge? this will all just make interesting stories years and years from now when you're tucking your grandchildren in and they're afraid they're never going to figure things out. sending love.

Oh hon, believe me, we all go through this. I had so many jobs after graduating Wooster...well, let's just say that I got 5 W-2 forms one year. FIVE. So we all have our moments of failure or giving up.

It sounds like your profs are right and you should think very seriously about whether you want to continue in the program. Taking some time off may make you realize how much you miss the discipline, and you'll come back to it with a new outlook...or, you will realize how much you don't miss dental hygiene! Either way, time off is not necessarily a bad thing.

Let me know if a visit would help...:)

Lady Betsy as others have said you are most assuredly not a failure and this, while disheartening, is far from being an impossible failure: I have seldom seen anyone approach such a difficult subject with the same amount of competence, skill and rigor the way you have these past years... all without losing that natual charm or good cheer that defines you.

You can and should keep trying: You are fully capable of getting through this and succeeding. You have invested so much time and have such innate talent that your eventual success is all but guaranteed! This is but a setback Lady Betsy, a momentary misstep, and I'm sure you'll be able to get back in there and kick all their collective asses once you reapply!

*HUGS!!!*

the lyrics just keep repeating aravis128 October 11 2006, 00:13:18 UTC
"And for a moment you felt important but not in your heart
My self esteem, it's been low, go ahead and count it's been lower than low
I know the feeling of it stealing life out from under me"
-Save Yourself; Sense Field

"but I fear
I have nothing to give
I have so much
to lose here in this lonely place
tangled up in our embrace
there's nothing I'd like better than
to fall"
-Fear; Sarah McLachlan

"You can't fight the undertow
Not when you're all alone
You can't fight the undertow
How long til you let go"
-Undertow, Ivy
