Over the weekend, my mother posted a ridiculous photo (meant to be a joke) to her Facebook.  One of her oldest friends took offense, basically said my mom was hateful and just kind of went all passive aggressive with one of those generic statuses about 'You can just unfriend me, blah, blah, blah

You're right. We really are losing the ability to interact with one another on a real and respectful level. It's kind of scary to realize.

Everything seems to have blown over with my mom, but I'm still irritated by that friend of hers. *sigh* I'm protective.

Mom will be okay. She's still friends with this person but I don't think they interact on the same level anymore. Which I think works just fine for her. :-)
