How would you correctly punctuate the following sentence and why? (Referring to only one response from one guy.)

One of the guy's responses was a yes.

One of the guys' responses was a yes.

(P.S. This isn't a trick question.
I don't know the right answer and it's making me feel a little stupid. :-))

Plural possessive = guys'

That was one guy's response.
Look at those guys' hair products...

One of the guy's responses was affirmative.

For whatever it is worth, Word's grammar checker does not wig on any of the following constructions. (except it wants me to change guy to person)

One of the guys’ responses was a yes.

One of the guy's responses was a “yes”.

One of the guy’s responses was a yes.

One of the guy's responses was a ‘yes’.

Unless it was multiple guys and we were picking out one of their responses...

One guy - one of the guy's responses.
Two or more guys - one of the guys' responses.

I like to assume when Kristin speaks, many men gather around to give their responses.

Good point.

Unless the guys in question are being stupid.

Note that given that two of her smart friends don't know the answer anymore than she did, K's feeling a bit stupid may be inaccurate.
