I haven't been too active on here of late, but I was looking through old entries and found this one that I'd made a private entry for some reason. Phil Donahue quoted it during an interview by Krista Tipett on the radio show On Being (one of my favorite podcasts):

There lives more faith in honest doubt,
Believe me, than in half the creeds.

OK- but which half? That's the trick.

Also, considering what precedes it, "Believe me" here is more slippery than it first strikes. Interesting.
