While the idea of minimalism is spectacular in it's concept, my personal belief is that it's an unattainable when you're a household of more than 5 people and you're attempting to do most things from scratch

I can't remember how old your kids are now, but for littles, I've often seen a toy rotation suggested. Keep out a few toys, put the rest in storage, and every few months rotate them out.* It supposedly keeps their toys feeling fresh and interesting. As well as decluttering your living space, obviously. Oh, and also cull the collection and remove any toys that are broken or are no longer played with.
I have no suggestions for your blender. We have two that just take up precious cupboard space in our kitchen. :p
*I don't have kids and have never actually tried this myself, haha.
