Pass the cars at your own, sorta not speeding, speed. If they want you out of their way, they have those wonderful flashing lights on top of their vehicles that tell you when they want to go somewhere. I think they even have a siren for that too.
Running does tend to get their attention. It doesn't matter if the prey says they were provoked into running.
Yeah, that's what I normally end up doing. Don't increase speed, but sure as hell don't make him think you're dragging it out. Signalling as soon as possible seems to make them a little happier. :D
If they didn't throw their lights on when they first noticed you speeding, they're not interested. Keep passing at your speed, get out of their way, and they'll bust you or not depending on their preference.
By the time they've snuck up on you, they've already determined whether they're going to pull you over. Your behaviour beyond that point is almost irrelevant, unless you do something ridiculously stupid.
If they're speeding that much with lights off, they're probably just putting miles on the car or having fun learning the Charger's limits.
Au contraire...I just commented that I had a ME State Trooper intentionally follow me for five minutes (of course I had slowed down once I noticed him) and only put on his lights when I moved to the right lane to let him pass. He was just waiting.
You know, on the Pike, the only time I've *not* seen them cruising in the 80-85 range is when they're stopped.
And, really, most of them don't consider a sedate 75 to be speeding on the Pike. Only 10 mph over the limit really doesn't seem to be worth their time, unless you give them something else to cite you for. Especially not when the CT drivers are going their routine 90. ;)
I've seen the NYS Camaro (and was kindly asked to not drool on it), but the frightening ones the NYS troopers have are the SUVs. Those guys hide in the bushes, in spots you wouldn't expect to see a vehicle... then burst out of the woods, lights flashing, and damn near give people heart attacks. :D I think they enjoy making the (pardon the pun) flashy entrance.
And honestly they only tailgate you like that once they've decided they're going to pull you over anyway. The one time I got a ticket I had a SP officer on my tail for about a minute with no lights, and when I casually pulled over to the right to let him pass he put on his flashers and pulled me over. Told me he had been following me "for at least five minutes."
