Today

was a good day at the shop. We got about 5 inches of snow today, so it was relatively quiet, customer wise. The original scheduling for today was I would be there open to 2, Troy from 12 - 4, Sallie from 2 - 6 and Karen from 6 - close. Well - due to the snow, Sallie AND Karen called out. SO I ended up working open - 6:30, when I closed the shop ( Read more... )

Glad you met goal for the day! That's definitely worth celebrating!
I wonder if business will pick up tomorrow because of all the people who stayed in today will be stir crazy already?

It's Elle, but I have no LJ account. I'm not anonymous, I swear! There's a coffee shop near us that's always hopping in the afternoons with high school kids and work from home people. I think it's because they've cornered the geek market in the area - they're half gaming/comic shop, half coffee shop, but what's really important is that they host Magic tournaments and D&D games (and have the tables to do so). So those same people come in at non-gaming time, (though I've also seen some ladies in there playing bridge in the afternoons).

Here's their website, if you can glean any useful information: http://www.enchantedgrounds.com/

I would totally spend all afternoon working there and drinking delicious coffee if it weren't for the darn commute!

If you have no LJ - how did you find me? Hmmmm. LOL Just teasing. Anyway - the high school has a coffee shop of it's own, darn it all. Plus - I did have to open this shop in the Valley, which really isn't super supportive of the geek counter-culture. But D&D games are a good idea. I have been tossing around the idea of game afternoons for board games because I am SURE I am not the only person who loves games but lives in a house with people who - well - frankly - don't.

You can always change that commute, you know. ;) THanks for the link - I will check them out. :)
