Missed posting yesterday...

So I shall post today about yesterday. Yesterday was New Year's Eve, and we had been invited to our very first NYE party ever. But - since we don't like to go out on NYE and we really don't like to have to drive, we declined with heavy hearts, planning to just stay home like usual instead. Then, on SUnday, a friend who live 3 miles away invited us ( Read more... )

I've always thought 8pm was kinda late, especially on nights when you aren't having something going on in the evenings. You've been open long enough now to make the decision to close at 5pm on Mondays. In the Spring when it stays light longer, you can revisit the decision.

Well - I was aiming for the after school/study group - or the knitting club that meets after dad gets home from work. Or the need a place with wi-fi to work on my pc in quiet group - you know? There isn't anywhere else in this town like that.

I kinda hesitate to offer advice, considering my own history with the cafe. But...

...the Hard Bean in Boyertown closes at 2, and then if there is an event, they re-open for that event. For some there's even a nominal cover charge, but then they have a much bigger space to work with and no doubt the bands that play are being paid. But as I recall, when I had conversations with the owner there, he said it's just dead from 2pm on and it costs too much to pay staff or keep coffee on when no one is coming in.

You are welcome to offer advice my dear - you DO have experience and any point of view is one that I don't have, yeah? Hard Bean closes at 2 every day, doesn't it? We get loads of people on other days of the week, just not MOndays. Well - not loads, but we def. keep going. We have a group of middle schoolers who are well behaved and like to come in on Wednesday afternoons. Just as an example.

Well, if it's just Mondays, it totally makes sense to close early that day. I recall stores being altogether closed on Monday, so maybe Monday is just a bad day for people. Hell, I can't even remember if we were open on Monday.
