I'm not really sure what to say for the most part...I'm not exactly for abortion, but it's not a black and white sort of topic, is it? It's not just "sluts" who become pregnant by mistake, as people like to think. It's very easy to judge those that choose to have an abortion, it's very easy to belittle them, but it seems we never think of offering some proper support and compassion or anything positive for that matter. It would be great if we lived in a perfect world and abortions were never necessary or considered, but that's not the case.

What really caught my eye was this:

"Even surrendering the child for adoption requires a hospital stay for delivery that costs thousands of dollars."

Are you serious? There's no form of government funding scheme (e.g. Medicare) that allows for reduced costs, or no cost at all in some cases? O_O

"county commissioners think women should stay at home so they dont have to provide Head Start for children."

*Headdesk*

I should never complain about life in Australia.

Some people can get a reduced cost, but sometimes that coverage is only 15-20%, still leaving a significant burden on the patient, depending on the plan in question.

We have a public health system here, meaning you can go to a public hospital, recieve treatment and never pay a cent, because everyone with their taxes afford it. It has pros and cons but I'm always stunned when I hear how the system works in your country and I thank everyday that in my country ppl who don't have access to medical insurance can be healed too ( ... )

It just makes me want to get the f@k out of here even more and go back to Europe where we have socialized Universal Health care -_____- . Whenever I had some surgery or something like that I would visit my family in Spain and get it done, since here I would get in so much debt. But. Geez! these stupid sexist legislations and backward turn of the century/Victorian thinking is just appalling and takes the cake ( ... )

Oh and judging by friends I've had around here that had babies, just to have it in the Hospital costs nearly $10,000 here in Utah and pray there is no complications and you need to stay longer for observation or treatment... In Spain doesn't cost you a dime.

I hope you are right and they are just the last throes of a dying generation :P . It sure makes me nervous to think they want to push the country backwards and not forwards. As long as they don't succeed. That is why we need to protest this kind of non-sense actively ^__^.

allowing hospitals to let a woman die instead of performing a life-saving abortion

what

...

WHAT

"Pro-Life: We care about unborn babies. And no one else."

I'm kind of shocked I haven't heard about this earlier.
