Reporting Stolen License Plates?

This may seem like a silly post/question but I'm really not sure who to call. On Friday night, some loser cut the month and year sticker portions of my back license plate out. Apparently, this idiot was too lazy to steal the whole plate and too lazy to peel the stickers off. I suppose cutting the plate was the best solution for him as it would ( Read more... )

yeah, some assbut ganked my rear license plate last year. i reported it to the police and they had me bring the in the other plate and then they gave me like a voucher saying it was okay that i had no plates in case any coppers pulled me over. i did have to go to the dmv and get new plates and that kinda sucked.

if your sitatuion plays out like mine did, i recommend avoiding the dmv in downtown milwaukee, 'cause that place is hyper crowded.

Yeah, I ended up calling the police this morning just to make sure it was reported in case I get pulled over. I couldn't believe the dumbass I got on the other end of the phone at the MKE Police department. She told me, "Oh, you don't need a new plate, you just need new stickers." I said, "Did you hear me when I said they physically cut the plate up with a tin snips?" She says, "Yeah, I heard you and I know that technically you're supposed to have those stickers in each of the bottom corners but well, you know... people put them wherever they feel like it anyway so you may as well do it too." I shit you not, this is what I was told by the frickin' POLICE department! *rolls eyes*

actually the dmv now kinda tells you to put them in the middle of the plate(at least the year one) so that it's too much work to steal

and have you ever tried to peel one of those off?? if you don't drive it 2 inches up under you nails it's ruined anyways

Judging by the number of plates that are stolen whole, it doesn't matter where you put the sticker. The whole sticker approach is just assanine, IMO. It encourages theft. They should give you something to put on the inside of your windshield as they do in other states. I suppose... some asshole would come along and break the glass then. Can't win.
