3 weeks ago today, Tanya, Wanda & I drove one of the top 5 scenic drives in the country to reach Sedona. Today, that stunning 17-mile stretch of Hwy 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona is completely shut down. Why? Oh my God, that's terrible :( Sedona is one of my favorite places to visit.

I saw this on the news today and thought of you right away Judy. Yup, this is very sad.

I hope this person does get caught! If it was a real "transient" person, perhaps they can't even read or they really are stupid or something. Either way, they need to be tossed into that fire so they don't even do something like this ever again.

My mom said this is all over the news by them even tho Sedona is about 5 hours away from where they are. She said they can't even see any smoke, but it's getting alot of attention.

Yeah, I'm SURE your parents are seeing a lot where they are! They're really not all that far away!

I've been watching coverage of this online at http://www.azcentral.com. They had great coverage of the LaBarranca fire that sparked when we were out there 3 weeks ago and they're doing better than anyone covering this new fire! It's the Phoenix ABC affiliate. Kevin Hunt (formerly of Channel 4) works there now in sports... like I care about sports shit but still funny! LOL!

*sigh* Charred Sedona or no, I can't wait to go back! Early May next year, dear! Come on along!

That is so sad - It kills me that people can be so careless & stupid. I've never been to the southwest, but I'm a HUGE nature-lover, so I can totally understand how you feel about this. Let's hope this will drive the point home to other would-be idiots who want to start campfires there!
