It's been an awfully long time since I've done an open update in my journal - I've been back in Kansas for a little more than two weeks and I've been doing many of the things I was looking forward to by the end of my long year overseas.

Great pics, as usual. And I'm so glad that the date was better than expected.

But most of all, I want to say THANK YOU for telling me how much a stick of butter weighs. My microwave only measures butter in sticks (for softening or melting), and there is nothing in the booklet which explains the weight of a stick, and none of my other cookbooks say anything about it either. Now I know!! And I can stop randomly guessing, or just saying '3 sticks', cos that's the most it will do.

On to greater baking!

I stayed home and the storm chased ME. Big branch dropped a few feet from my kitchen window, but my car was okay. Tonight was nice for fireworks, though (I live across the street from the place they launch).

The one I photographed was a different formation from the one that came in along I-70 from the direction of Abilene - that one was a real wowzer, yeah!

Your niece is adorable! And I hear it's good luck to have fireflies wandering around the house (nothing's more irritating to a gremlin than a firefly.) ;)

She is very cute. Her sister is also incredibly cute. What a pair!

I'll take all the good luck I can get! :-) Fireflies of the neighborhood be ware!
