Ow! [The sorcerer shakes his hand briefly before reaching out toward the device and taking it up. He brings it with him across the apartment.]I always thought Thanksgiving was an interesting holiday. Perhaps a day that shouldn't have been created so late in history by a new country not yet independent. You have to wonder what there is to be ( Read more... )

There are always things to be thankful for. Holidays like this celebrate the goodness and the mercy and the humanitarianism that are the only things that allow men to dwell in peace with one another. It's marvelous, really.

Did you hear about the one during World War II? The story about the American troops sharing Christmas with a group of German soldiers? Wrong holiday technically, but right message.

Yes, many of the older people in my town remember fighting in the war. They were rather fond of telling stories.

...Usually it's the other way around. Most don't like to tell stories.

Except for a few happy ones. I suppose.

To get your attention.

I have to admit I'm impressed with the apartment building so far. It has all the commodities where the others only have one or two fixed and still functioning. How will winter be though?

One could be thankful to be alive, I suppose, despite the circumstances around here. Or thankful that one's loved ones aren't stuck here, too.

It is one thing. The fact that the scientists took that option away too though...

I think I'm more thankful that this isn't effecting my own world. That is definitely one thing to be thankful for in the long haul.

Fair point... One thing is better that nothing.

I think I could toast to that. Or at least be thankful for it, I'd hate to see this being the only reality, after all.

It isn't. It would be ludicrous to think otherwise considering the evidence. Even if I didn't already know the truth.

What is what? The holiday? A time to give thanks for anything and everything you can think of to be thankful for. It was originally very religious in nature.

What religion?

Christianity. It was a general thing, but focused on giving thanks to God specifically rather than giving thanks in general as it is nowadays to many. I'm not saying it was actually a part of the religion...if that's what you're interested in.

It's a day of Thanksgiving that came about after a group of settlers managed to finally find a way to get through the winter with relatively good result.
