My philosophical musing

This occurred to me about the "right" person and such... Much inspired by Crudmonkey's determinism/free will debate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not angsting. It's more an interesting thought of my day. :D

Okay, so I had this thought on the bus today: Somewhere out there, lives the guy/girl you will fall in love with and marry someday. He/She's gotta be alive and kickin' in some part of the world, somewhere, and one day you two will happen to meet in some haphazard fashion... but think of how cool that is!

But on the other hand, he *doesn't* exist. If you believe in free will, then your future spouse/lover is up in the air. It could be anyone, depending on the choices you make, the roads you walk, and the people you meet, etc. So by subscribing to free will, does that mean the "right" person doesn't exist? He is not there since nothing is predetermined.

Then the thing is, he clearly *is* around in the world some where. Unless you are getting together with someone who hasn't been born yet... So he's both there, and not there. I was so inspired by the first option on the bus today but then I gave it more free will-thinking (Thanks Leah) and then I decided that the second is more likely. I guess I'm just a more free will person in general. Unlike when I was 12-13 years old, when I was all about fate and destiny.
