[video] 01; first exploration

Dec 09, 2011 20:14

[The video feed to Afonso's communicator cuts on with a noise of something being shifted around and banged; the sight of Afonso's fingers coming back from the top of the communicator as he attempts to fiddle with it come first, then his face, lips pursed as if he was skeptical. The parchment is clutched to his chest, and he looks down at it again ( Read more... )

[as he listens to the recording, he hears a familiar voice. he watches and waits for the other to turn around and face the communicator. but perhaps he doesn't know he left it on. not too surprising, considering England and Prussia had a hard time figuring it out]

Portugal! Hey, Hello, Portugal!

[Where the hell was that voice coming from? That was familiar, very familiar, and Portugal lights up, his mouth breaking into a smile. That was his best friend. Immediately, he turns around--but freezes, expecting the solid form of the other right behind him or something.

But...he was in the mirror.

Curiously, the brunette made his way back over to it and knelt down, brushing his fingers against the top screen.] Inglaterra, is that you--? How did you get in there...?

[a pause, and then he chuckles upon seeing Port's face. he knows that face of surprise very well. in fact, he'd been making it a lot since he first arrived]

Never fear, man! I am not stuck inside the mirror. Rather, we are talking through it. I am safe in a room!

You're--wait. Is this some kind of enchantment of yours, or something? I'm glad you'd like to see me as much as I'd enjoy seeing you, but I don't know if that warrants something like this...[He taps the mirror again, confused.] Did you get kidnapped as well? Where are we?

You know, mon ami... you should really work on your excuse.

[A little amused smile.]

They were not the ones that caused this, I assure you. [Although, Italy/France and the Ottoman Empire are currently at war in 1668...

... and it might just be the mirror but Francis looks a little bit older.]

[Oh, ugh, it's France. Afonso frowns at the mirror, brows knitting together in confusion.] If it was yours or my brother's doing--or perhaps both of you, I never know when you hate each other or work together anymore--then I'd suggest you'd let me free before you face the consequences.

[...Then again.] ...Is that some sort of new fashion that hasn't reached the peninsula? You look strange.

[What do you mean, "ugh, it's France"?! D': Le soooob.]

Espagne is not here. Antonio... he was here, however... he up and disappeared one day. I was the only one living with him at the time, and I... I heard nothing. He was just gone. [What he's saying is, "be careful". He doesn't live alone anymore, but from the looks of it Port is...]

You'd better direct your anger at the Rulers. The Emperor and the Empress are the ones responsible for bringing us here. Personally I would much prefer to be in Paris, and see my beautiful city again.

[A sigh, before he starts explaining.] This place, it is called Arcanarum. No one knows how we got here, we simply wake up here one day. The Rulers are trying to turn us into a character which they have chosen for us, named our "denizen", instead of who we are now. They can do so - they've already turned our bodies into something different three times already. [First he had short hair, then he was a child... but that will be hard to explain unless he has someone else backing him up.] We are all trying ( ... )

Oh good. Perhaps he's fallen off the edge of the Earth. That would be brilliant. [Scowling, because if there is anyone in the world Portugal hates right now, it would be Spain. Good riddance. But he huffs and listens as Francis continues speaking.]

...I suppose I understand, but not really. Is that who this...Christian character is? How long have you been here to know such thin--ah?

[A confused look crosses his face.] ...1688. Why do you ask?

[The screen shows a cheerful blond with a wide smile. His voice blares through the speakers.]

Hey-heeeey! No way! Portugal!? Man, I haven't seen you in, like, what? Forever?! How you been, dude?! I totally didn't expect you to drop in this place! Ha ha ha ha! Looks like you got roped into this crazy set up, too, huh?! I got no clue who your role guy is, but no worries! You've got a hero like me watchin' your back! [He gives Portugal a thumbs up.]

[.....who the hell are you, and how do you know my name.]

....Right.

[Now that he thinks about it, he does look vaguely familiar. But the last time Portugal saw America, he was not even up to his knee and clinging to the back of England's leg. He squints. What is this slang you're speaking.]

....Pardon my rudeness, but. Do I know you?

[America's smile disappears and is replaced with a confused slack-jaw and blinking.]

Oh, ow, cold response, bro! I mean, sure you do! Ha ha ha ha, don't tell me you forgot someone as awesomely talented, amazing, and handsome as me! It hasn't been that long has- oh... [It looks as if something mental just clicked into place.] Hey, Portugal, what year is it over there, dude?

...1688. [What a strange kid. He's got the distinct vibe of nation on him, and Portugal's brows knit together as he does in fact come upon the solution.] --You're...that colony of Inglaterra's, are you not? That has to be it--I've brought Luciano to meet you before.

[Huh.]

Strange, I recall you barely being up to my knee...
