Show Me How You Do That Trick

Feb 04, 2004 00:04

The very first time rehearsing for a stage kiss during a play is always awkward. When I'm not entirely comfortable with my blocking it seems especially graceless. It is easy to say, "This isn't a problem. We're both adults -- kissing is something we've both done many times before." But no matter how casual and brave and indifferent about it I try ( Read more... )

I always did wonder what actors thought about kissing scenes. Good luck and you really do like Dayna, whether in a more platonic or more romantic fashion, it's pretty obvious you care. You'll iron it out.

It will iron. I've never had trouble with stage kisses because thankfully all of my partners have been really mature about it, including Dayna. I just hate the very first ones because you're still trying to figure out the atmosphere of the scene, where you are on stage, the level of emotion you're trying to give your character, etc, etc.

Stage kisses are weird. I swear, the one with Guillaume that we had in that scene for our drama class (which i believe you came and saw)..was very hard to do. He completely put it off until THAT NIGHT. We hadnt practiced it or anything, he kept like...shying away from the blaring fact that a stage kiss is very akward and we needed practice (not like i'd have minded a couple of extra ones either..;);) ) but then in the end, you end up doing it and dont even remember it because you're so in character up on stage. Lol...oh dan, i cant wait to see you guys in the play! when's opening night?

Haha! That crazy Frenchman. I took him home last night and he kept telling me he couldn't believe I was doing it so soon. But the sooner you rehearse them the sooner you can get comfortable with it and then it can look natural on stage.

All of the information for show times and stuff can be found here and then clicking on the appropriate date you want to attend. Prices can be a little different depending on which day you want to go to.

oh...stage kisses...Sadly I've never done one. I guess I could be considered lucky.

Great song!

They're all right if only to get another theatrical experience but truly, when all is said and done, it's not much like anything else you would do for a play. Honestly, at least for me, you're so focused on other things like keeping the tension of the scene up, feeling the audience out, staying deeply in character that you don't even feel or much remember the kiss afterward.

Been feeling an urge to have a first kiss with someone new recently, just one of those odd longings.

Stumbled across this post in the usual clickety manner, love your background, danced to that song this morning while waiting for my bagel to pop, MOST intrigued by your bio, laughed while reading this post...all the more reason to friend you, my dear!

I also just stumbled upon your entry entirely by mistake. Looking for the lyrics of a song who's title I don't know, by an artist I don't know... and I came across your entry. ;) Funny thing...

Anyway, good luck with the kissing thing. :) hope you both have some fun with it at your "practice session". ;)

Cheers.
